Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Flurbiprofen axetil + sufentanil is a combination analgesic regimen used primarily for postoperative pain management. Flurbiprofen axetil is an injectable prodrug of the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) flurbiprofen, formulated in lipid microspheres to target inflamed tissues. It acts by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX), thereby reducing prostaglandin synthesis and alleviating pain and inflammation. Sufentanil is a potent synthetic opioid analgesic that acts as an agonist at the mu-opioid receptor, providing strong central analgesia. The combination leverages the distinct mechanisms of both drugs—peripheral anti-inflammatory action from flurbiprofen axetil and central opioid-mediated analgesia from sufentanil—to enhance postoperative pain control while potentially reducing individual drug doses and associated side effects[3][4][5].
