Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Flutfor is a fixed-dose combination inhalation therapy developed by Midas Care, consisting of fluticasone propionate and formoterol fumarate. Fluticasone propionate is a synthetic corticosteroid with potent anti-inflammatory activity, mediated through its agonism of the glucocorticoid receptor, which leads to the downregulation of pro-inflammatory cytokines and reduction of airway hyperresponsiveness. Formoterol fumarate is a long-acting beta2-adrenergic agonist (LABA) that provides rapid and sustained bronchodilation by stimulating beta2-receptors on airway smooth muscle cells, increasing intracellular cyclic AMP and causing muscle relaxation. This combination product is utilized for the long-term maintenance treatment of respiratory conditions such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
