Overview

This drug is a hypothetical or development-stage **triple combination inhaler** intended for the maintenance treatment of **asthma** and **chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)**. It consists of **fluticasone** (an inhaled corticosteroid that reduces airway inflammation), **salmeterol** (a long-acting beta-2 adrenergic receptor agonist that causes prolonged bronchodilation), and a **long-acting muscarinic antagonist (LAMA)**, which blocks muscarinic cholinergic receptors to further improve bronchodilation and prevent bronchoconstriction. The triple combination is based on the complementary mechanisms of these three drug classes for synergistic control of airway inflammation, bronchospasm, and airway hyperreactivity. This triple therapy is typically considered for patients with asthma or COPD who remain symptomatic despite dual therapy with ICS/LABA.
