Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Fluticasone propionate + formoterol is a fixed-dose combination inhaler containing two active ingredients for the maintenance treatment of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Fluticasone propionate is a potent inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) with anti-inflammatory effects in the airways. Formoterol fumarate is a long-acting β2-adrenoceptor agonist (LABA) that provides rapid and sustained bronchodilation by relaxing airway smooth muscle. The combination improves lung function and asthma control more effectively than either component alone and offers similar efficacy to other ICS/LABA combinations such as budesonide/formoterol or fluticasone/salmeterol. It is administered via oral inhalation using a metered-dose or dry powder inhaler[1][3][4][7].
