Drug intelligence / Profile preview
AirDuo (marketed as AirDuo RespiClick and AirDuo Digihaler) is an FDA-approved fixed-dose combination of fluticasone propionate and salmeterol xinafoate. Developed by Teva and its subsidiary Actavis Laboratories, it is indicated for the maintenance treatment of asthma in patients aged 12 years and older. Fluticasone propionate is an inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) that targets the glucocorticoid receptor to suppress inflammatory processes in the lungs, while salmeterol is a long-acting beta2-adrenergic agonist (LABA) that stimulates beta-2 adrenergic receptors to relax airway smooth muscle and improve lung function. The drug is delivered via a breath-activated dry powder inhaler and is administered twice daily. It is not indicated for the relief of acute bronchospasm.
