Overview
This is a generic combination inhalation powder developed by Roxane Laboratories (now part of Hikma Pharmaceuticals) containing fluticasone propionate and salmeterol xinafoate. It is designed as a bioequivalent generic version of GlaxoSmithKline's Advair Diskus. Fluticasone propionate is an inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) that functions as a glucocorticoid receptor agonist to reduce airway inflammation. Salmeterol xinafoate is a long-acting beta-2 adrenergic agonist (LABA) that acts on beta-2 adrenergic receptors to relax bronchial smooth muscle, providing long-lasting bronchodilation. The product is delivered via an inhalation powder device (such as the Vectura LOMI inhaler used in clinical trials) and is indicated for the treatment of asthma in patients aged 4 years and older.
