Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Fluvastatin + valsartan is a fixed-dose combination of two small molecule drugs, fluvastatin and valsartan. Fluvastatin is an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor (statin) that lowers cholesterol by inhibiting the rate-limiting step in cholesterol biosynthesis, while valsartan is an angiotensin II type 1 receptor blocker (ARB) that reduces blood pressure by blocking the vasoconstrictive effects of angiotensin II. The combination has been studied for its synergistic effects on cardiovascular health, including anti-inflammatory and antioxidative properties, improvement in arterial wall function, reduction in atrial fibrillation burden, and attenuation of atherosclerotic changes. These benefits are observed even at low doses and may extend beyond lipid lowering or blood pressure reduction alone[1][2][3][5].
