Drug intelligence / Profile preview
FMP014 + ALFQ is an experimental pre-erythrocytic malaria vaccine candidate developed by the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR) in collaboration with Alpha-O Peptides. The vaccine consists of FMP014, a recombinant self-assembling protein nanoparticle (SAPN) that forms an icosahedral structure of 60 identical monomer chains. Each monomer displays Plasmodium falciparum circumsporozoite protein (PfCSP) epitopes, including CD4+ and CD8+ T-cell epitopes, universal TH epitopes, portions of the α-TSR domain, and six repeats of the NANP motif. FMP014 is formulated with ALFQ (Army Liposome Formulation containing QS-21), a potent liposome-based adjuvant designed to enhance both humoral and cellular immune responses. The vaccine is intended to prevent Plasmodium falciparum malaria by targeting the sporozoite stage before it infects hepatocytes.
