FOLFIRI + panitumumab

FOLFIRI + panitumumab is a combination regimen used primarily for the first-line treatment of metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) in patients with wild-type RAS genes. The regimen combines the chemotherapy protocol FOLFIRI—which includes folinic acid (leucovorin), fluorouracil (5-FU), and irinotecan—with panitumumab, a fully human monoclonal antibody targeting the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR). Panitumumab inhibits EGFR-mediated signaling pathways involved in cell proliferation and survival. The addition of panitumumab to FOLFIRI has been shown to improve objective response rates and progression-free survival in patients with RAS wild-type mCRC[1][2][3][4][5]. This combination is administered intravenously every 14 days per cycle[8]. It is recommended for patients who are not candidates for bevacizumab or have left-sided tumors with wild-type RAS/BRAF status.
