Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Folimet** is an oral tablet formulation of **folic acid**, a small-molecule synthetic form of vitamin B9. Folic acid is reduced to tetrahydrofolate cofactors that support one-carbon transfer reactions required for nucleotide synthesis, cellular proliferation, and normal erythropoiesis. Folimet is used to treat folate-deficiency anemia caused by inadequate dietary intake or intestinal malabsorption; low-dose folate supplementation is also used during pregnancy to prevent fetal neural tube defects and alongside low-dose methotrexate to mitigate treatment-associated folate deficiency and adverse effects. Danish Folimet products are available as 1 mg and 5 mg tablets.
