Folium Ginkgo Extract + Tetramethylpyrazine Sodium Chloride Injection, marketed under the brand name Xingxiong Injection (or Mainuokang), is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM)-derived compound preparation approved and used in China for the treatment of ischemic stroke, cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury, and coronary heart disease. It is a fixed-dose combination containing two active components: an extract from Folium Ginkgo (Ginkgo biloba leaves) and tetramethylpyrazine sodium chloride (a derivative of ligustrazine, an alkaloid originally isolated from Ligusticum chuanxiong). The drug is administered by intravenous injection and works through multiple biological targets, including antagonism of the platelet-activating factor receptor (PAFR) and blockade of L-type calcium channels. This multi-target mechanism leads to downstream activation of the Akt/Nrf2 signaling pathway and inhibition of the NLRP3 inflammasome, thereby reducing neuroinflammation, oxidative stress, and apoptosis in ischemic brain tissue.
