Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Follitropin alfa + lutropin alfa** is a fixed-dose recombinant gonadotropin combination marketed as **Pergoveris**. It combines recombinant human follicle-stimulating hormone and recombinant human luteinizing hormone in a 2:1 ratio, typically 150 IU follitropin alfa plus 75 IU lutropin alfa per daily dose. The components are produced in genetically engineered Chinese hamster ovary cells. The product is used to stimulate follicular development in adult women with severe luteinizing hormone and follicle-stimulating hormone deficiency, including anovulation associated with gonadotropin deficiency. Follitropin alfa activates follicle-stimulating hormone receptors to support granulosa-cell function and follicular growth, while lutropin alfa activates luteinizing hormone/choriogonadotropin receptors to support theca-cell steroidogenesis, follicular maturation, and ovarian sensitivity to follicle-stimulating hormone. It is administered by daily subcutaneous injection as a solution in a pre-filled pen or as powder and solvent for solution for injection.
