Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Folrex is a therapeutic product line developed by Catalysis SL, featuring molecularly activated folic acid as its primary active component. The proprietary activation process is claimed to enhance the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties of the folic acid molecule. While widely available as a nutraceutical for managing joint pain and inflammation associated with arthritis, Folrex has been specifically studied in clinical settings for its potential to aid in the rehabilitation of stroke patients. A Phase 3 clinical trial investigated the use of Folrex cream to improve upper extremity motor function in patients undergoing rehabilitation following an acute stroke, based on the hypothesis that it reduces local oxidative stress and inflammation in affected tissues.
