Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**BetaMarc** is an investigational fixed-dose combination of **formoterol fumarate** and **roxithromycin** developed by Anaborex for cancer anorexia-cachexia syndrome. Formoterol is a beta-2 adrenergic receptor agonist proposed to reduce skeletal-muscle proteolysis through modulation of the ubiquitin-proteasome pathway, while roxithromycin is a macrolide with anti-inflammatory activity that can suppress inflammatory cytokine production by immune cells. The combination was evaluated with chemotherapy in a randomized Phase 2 study in patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer and cancer anorexia-cachexia syndrome; the trial was terminated. No regulatory approval or commercial manufacturer for BetaMarc was identified.
