Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Fortibone-Frontier Medical and Dental College, Abbotabad refers to a specific therapeutic regimen evaluated in a pilot randomized controlled trial for the management of bone mineral density in postmenopausal women. The intervention consists of **Fortibone**, a bioactive collagen peptide (BCP) product manufactured by GELITA AG, administered in combination with a calcium and vitamin D3 supplement (marketed as Colabone by Vivapharm SA). Fortibone is composed of specific type I collagen peptides with a mean molecular weight of approximately 5 kDa, which function as biological signals to stimulate osteoblasts for increased collagen synthesis while simultaneously inhibiting osteoclast activity to reduce bone resorption. The regimen includes a daily 5g sachet of Fortibone along with an electrolyte mix containing 500 mg of calcium (as calcium lactate), 4 mcg of calcitriol, and 400 IU of vitamin D3. This combination therapy is designed to address both the protein matrix and mineral components of bone tissue to treat osteopenia and prevent the progression to osteoporosis.
