fosamprenavir + ritonavir

Fosamprenavir + ritonavir is a fixed-dose combination of two antiretroviral drugs used in the treatment of human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) infection. Fosamprenavir is a prodrug that is rapidly converted to amprenavir, an HIV protease inhibitor, which blocks the cleavage of viral Gag and Gag-Pol polyproteins by binding to the active site of HIV-1 protease, resulting in immature, non-infectious viral particles[6][4]. Ritonavir acts as a pharmacokinetic enhancer by inhibiting cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4), thereby increasing plasma concentrations and effectiveness of fosamprenavir[2][5]. This combination is indicated for use with other antiretroviral agents for both therapy-naive and protease inhibitor-experienced patients with HIV infection[2][4].
