Overview

This combination therapeutic regimen is used in assisted reproductive technology (ART) for the treatment of female infertility, particularly in women identified as "poor responders" undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF). The protocol involves the administration of recombinant follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and recombinant luteinizing hormone (LH) to stimulate follicular development and maturation. To prevent a premature luteinizing hormone surge and subsequent ovulation before oocyte retrieval, cetrorelix, a gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) antagonist, is administered. This specific combination was evaluated by Bioroma in clinical trials comparing various ovarian stimulation protocols, such as the flexible GnRH antagonist protocol and the microdose GnRH agonist protocol, to optimize pregnancy and live birth rates in patients with diminished ovarian reserve.
