Overview
FSH-CTP + desogestrel is a novel combination protocol used in controlled ovarian stimulation (COS) for assisted reproductive techniques. The regimen combines corifollitropin alfa (FSH-CTP), a long-acting recombinant follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) analog, with oral desogestrel, a progestin. Corifollitropin alfa stimulates multi-follicular growth by maintaining elevated FSH levels for about one week after a single injection. Desogestrel is used to suppress the endogenous luteinizing hormone (LH) surge and prevent premature ovulation during COS cycles. This combination aims to simplify ovarian stimulation protocols by reducing the number of injections and clinic visits compared to traditional regimens that use daily recombinant FSH and GnRH antagonists for LH suppression. The approach has shown high patient acceptability and maintains efficacy in oocyte yield while potentially reducing emotional and financial burdens associated with fertility treatments[2][3][4].
