Overview

FSHR-directed CAR-T (IL-18 expressing) is an autologous chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy engineered to target the follicle-stimulating hormone receptor (FSHR) and co-express interleukin-18 (IL-18). FSHR is highly expressed in several gynecological malignancies, particularly ovarian cancer, while having limited expression in non-reproductive tissues, making it a viable target for CAR-T therapy. The inclusion of IL-18, a proinflammatory cytokine, is intended to enhance the expansion, persistence, and antitumor activity of the CAR-T cells within the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment. This "armored" CAR-T approach aims to overcome the challenges of treating solid tumors by modulating the local immune response. It is being developed by The Second Xiangya Hospital of Central South University for the treatment of FSHR-positive ovarian cancer.
