Overview

FTX-6058 + midazolam refers to the **co-administration of FTX-6058, a selective small-molecule inhibitor of Embryonic Ectoderm Development (EED), with midazolam, a short-acting benzodiazepine and probe substrate for cytochrome P450 3A (CYP3A) enzymes**. FTX-6058 is being investigated as an oral agent to treat sickle cell disease (SCD) and other hemoglobinopathies by inducing fetal hemoglobin (HbF) through epigenetic modulation. It potently downregulates gene repressors such as BCL11A and MYB, leading to increased HBG expression and HbF protein, which can reduce sickling and related complications in SCD. In the context of clinical trials, midazolam is administered orally as a CYP3A probe to assess possible drug-drug interactions and CYP3A induction potential by FTX-6058. There is no unique commercial product combining these two agents; the combination represents their use in pharmacokinetic and interaction studies, not as a fixed-dose therapy.
