Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Fumaria officinalis + silymarin is a combination of two herbal extracts, Fumaria officinalis (commonly known as fumitory) and silymarin (the main active extract from Silybum marianum, or milk thistle). This combination has been studied primarily for its potential benefits in dermatological conditions such as atopic dermatitis (eczema), where it may reduce severity and symptoms due to the antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and immunomodulatory properties of both components[1][2][3]. Fumaria officinalis contains isoquinoline alkaloids and other phytochemicals with reported immune-modulating effects. Silymarin is a mixture of flavonolignans with established hepatoprotective, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and cell-stabilizing activities. Both herbs have also been investigated individually for hepatoprotective effects. The combination is typically formulated as a topical cream or oral supplement in research settings.
