Overview

CLS006 is a topical gel formulation of furosemide (0.125%) being developed for the treatment of common warts (verruca vulgaris). Furosemide is a loop diuretic that acts by inhibiting the Na-K-Cl cotransporter (NKCC). In the context of cutaneous warts, topical furosemide is thought to interfere with the replication of the human papillomavirus (HPV) or affect the osmotic balance and proliferation of infected keratinocytes. The drug was originally developed by Cutanea Lifesciences and is currently being advanced in Phase 3 clinical trials by Maruho Co., Ltd.
