Overview

FV-100 + ritonavir is a combination of **FV-100** (code name CF-1743) and **ritonavir**. FV-100 is a nucleoside analogue antiviral originally developed for the treatment of shingles (herpes zoster); its mechanism involves inhibition of viral DNA polymerase, impeding viral replication. Ritonavir is a protease inhibitor used primarily in HIV therapy, but in combination regimens it is commonly used as a pharmacokinetic booster that inhibits the enzyme CYP3A4, resulting in increased blood concentrations of co-administered drugs. The combination is intended to enhance the exposure and efficacy of FV-100 by slowing its hepatic metabolism via ritonavir’s CYP3A4 inhibition.
