G-CSF + dexamethasone

G-CSF + dexamethasone is a combination regimen consisting of granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) and the corticosteroid dexamethasone. This combination is primarily used to mobilize neutrophils (polymorphonuclear leukocytes, PMNs) in healthy donors for granulocyte transfusion programs or to increase neutrophil counts in clinical settings where rapid neutrophil mobilization is required. G-CSF acts as a hematopoietic growth factor that stimulates the bone marrow to produce and release neutrophils into the bloodstream, while dexamethasone enhances this effect through its anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory properties. The combined administration has been shown to result in significantly higher peripheral blood neutrophil counts than either agent alone[1][6]. This regimen is well-tolerated and effective for optimal PMN mobilization.
