Overview

Ga-68 PSMA + Lu-177 PSMA is a radiopharmaceutical theranostic pair used for the management of prostate cancer, particularly metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC). This approach utilizes a Gallium-68 (Ga-68)-labeled agent (such as Ga-68 PSMA-11) for diagnostic positron emission tomography (PET) imaging to identify and stage prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA)-expressing lesions, paired with a Lutetium-177 (Lu-177)-labeled agent (such as Lu-177 PSMA-617) to deliver targeted beta-particle radiation to the same tumor sites. Both components target PSMA, a cell-surface receptor highly overexpressed in prostate cancer cells. This theranostic paradigm allows for personalized patient selection and treatment monitoring, ensuring that therapeutic radiation is precisely delivered to tumors while sparing healthy tissues.
