Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Gabapentin + sufentanil is a combination of two pharmaceutical agents used primarily for pain management. Gabapentin is an anticonvulsant and neuropathic pain agent that modulates the activity of voltage-gated calcium channels, thereby reducing excitatory neurotransmitter release in the central nervous system. Sufentanil is a potent synthetic opioid analgesic that acts as an agonist at the mu-opioid receptor, providing strong analgesia. The combination may be used perioperatively or for severe pain where multimodal analgesia is desired to enhance efficacy and reduce opioid requirements.
