gabapentin + venlafaxine

Gabapentin + venlafaxine is a combination of two pharmaceutical drugs, gabapentin and venlafaxine, used primarily in the management of neuropathic pain and certain psychiatric or somatic symptom disorders. Gabapentin is an anticonvulsant that modulates voltage-gated calcium channels to reduce excitatory neurotransmitter release, while venlafaxine is a serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI) that increases synaptic concentrations of serotonin and norepinephrine by inhibiting their reuptake at presynaptic terminals. This combination has been studied for enhanced efficacy in patients with neuropathic pain who do not respond adequately to monotherapy with either agent. Some studies report improved pain control, mood disturbance, and quality of life when both drugs are used together; however, there may be negative pharmacodynamic interactions under certain conditions[1][3][4].
