Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ga68-PSMA-617 (gallium (68Ga) vipivotide tetraxetan) is a radiolabeled diagnostic agent used in positron emission tomography (PET) imaging. It consists of the small-molecule targeting ligand vipivotide tetraxetan (PSMA-617), which binds with high affinity to the extracellular domain of prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA), conjugated to the positron-emitting radioisotope gallium-68 (68Ga). PSMA is a transmembrane glycoprotein that is highly overexpressed on prostate cancer cells, particularly in advanced, metastatic, and castration-resistant stages. Upon intravenous administration, Ga68-PSMA-617 selectively accumulates in PSMA-expressing tumor lesions, allowing for high-resolution PET/CT or PET/MRI imaging to detect primary prostate cancer, localize metastases, and identify patients eligible for PSMA-targeted radioligand therapies, such as lutetium (177Lu) vipivotide tetraxetan (Pluvicto).
