Overview

The term "ganirelix + cetrorelix" refers to a pooled comparator group of two injectable gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) antagonists used in controlled ovarian stimulation (COS) for in vitro fertilization (IVF). Both ganirelix and cetrorelix are synthetic decapeptides that competitively bind to GnRH receptors in the pituitary gland. This binding leads to the rapid suppression of luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) secretion, thereby preventing premature LH surges and ovulation during the stimulation phase. In clinical trial contexts, such as those sponsored by Centro A.M.B.R.A., these agents serve as the standard-of-care active comparator against novel oral GnRH antagonists like linzagolix.
