Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Gardasil + Adacel refers to the concomitant administration of Merck Sharp & Dohme's quadrivalent human papillomavirus (HPV) recombinant vaccine (Gardasil, also known as V501) and Sanofi Pasteur's tetanus toxoid, reduced diphtheria toxoid, and acellular pertussis vaccine (Adacel). Gardasil is a non-infectious recombinant quadrivalent vaccine prepared from highly purified virus-like particles (VLPs) of the major capsid (L1) protein of HPV types 6, 11, 16, and 18. It is indicated for the prevention of cervical, vulvar, vaginal, and anal cancers, as well as genital warts caused by these HPV types. Adacel is a booster vaccine indicated for active booster immunization against tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis. Clinical studies, such as NCT00092547, have evaluated the safety, tolerability, and immunogenicity of administering these vaccines concomitantly in adolescents (ages 11-17) to ensure that co-administration does not interfere with the immune response to any of the vaccine components.
