Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Gartin Plus is a fixed-dose combination pharmaceutical product developed and marketed by Globus Remedies, primarily available as an ophthalmic or otic suspension. It combines gatifloxacin, a fourth-generation fluoroquinolone antibiotic, with prednisolone acetate, a synthetic glucocorticoid. Gatifloxacin provides broad-spectrum antibacterial activity by inhibiting the enzymes DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, which are essential for bacterial DNA replication, transcription, and repair. Prednisolone acetate serves as an anti-inflammatory agent, reducing swelling, redness, and itching by agonizing the glucocorticoid receptor and modulating the expression of inflammatory mediators. The combination is indicated for treating bacterial infections of the eye or ear accompanied by inflammation, such as bacterial conjunctivitis or keratitis.
