Drug intelligence / Profile preview
GBP510 + aluminum hydroxide is a combination drug composed of GBP510, a recombinant protein nanoparticle vaccine displaying the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein receptor binding domain, formulated with aluminum hydroxide as the adjuvant. GBP510 stimulates an immune response by presenting 60 copies of the receptor binding domain (RBD) in a multivalent array, which enhances B cell activation and antibody production. Aluminum hydroxide acts as an immunostimulant adjuvant to further boost the immune response. The primary indication is for prophylaxis against COVID-19. Compared to other COVID-19 vaccines, GBP510-based formulations have shown high seroconversion rates and strong neutralizing antibody titers in Phase I/II trials. Developed and manufactured by SK bioscience, GBP510 combinations are distinct from GBP510/AS03 (which uses a different adjuvant system). The mechanism of action is the induction of adaptive immunity specifically targeting the SARS-CoV-2 spike RBD.
