GCflu + Pneumovax 23

This clinical trial intervention involves the concomitant administration of **GCflu**, a trivalent inactivated influenza vaccine (IIV3) developed by **Green Cross Corp**, and **Pneumovax 23**, a 23-valent pneumococcal polysaccharide vaccine (PPV23) developed by **Merck**. The combination was evaluated in a Phase 4 randomized comparative trial (NCT01712321) led by **Korea University Guro Hospital** during the 2012-2013 season in South Korea. The study focused on the elderly population (aged 65 and older) to assess the immunogenicity and safety of co-administering these vaccines in different deltoid muscles. GCflu contains 15 µg of hemagglutinin for each of the three influenza strains, while Pneumovax 23 contains 25 µg of purified capsular polysaccharides from 23 pneumococcal serotypes. The primary goal is the simultaneous prevention of seasonal influenza and pneumococcal infections, which are significant causes of morbidity and mortality in the elderly.
