Overview

GD2 CAR T cells (UCL) is an autologous cell-based immunotherapy developed by University College London for the treatment of neuroblastoma. The therapy consists of a patient's own T cells that have been genetically modified to express a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) targeting the disialoganglioside GD2, a well-validated antigen highly expressed on neuroblastoma cells. This specific 'multi-modular' construct includes additional transgenes designed to enhance the cells' resistance to the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment and improve their persistence and functional activity within the tumor. The therapy is currently being evaluated in the Phase I MAGNETO clinical trial for children and teenagers with relapsed or refractory neuroblastoma, following lymphodepletion chemotherapy.
