This is a pentavalent cancer vaccine composed of keyhole limpet hemocyanin (KLH)-conjugates of five tumor-associated carbohydrate antigens (TACAs): GD2L, GD3L, Globo H, fucosyl GM1, and N-propionylated polysialic acid. The vaccine is designed to induce an immune response against multiple glycan antigens that are overexpressed on the surface of various cancer cells—particularly small cell lung cancer (SCLC) and other solid tumors. These glycolipids and glycoproteins play roles in tumor growth, metastasis, angiogenesis, and immune evasion. By targeting several antigens simultaneously with a polyvalent approach, the vaccine aims to overcome tumor heterogeneity and enhance complement-dependent cytotoxicity against cancer cells[1][2][9]. OPT-821 is an adjuvant used in this formulation to boost immunogenicity.
