Overview

Gebauer's Spray and Stretch is a prescription topical vapocoolant spray used as a skin refrigerant. It is composed of a blend of 1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoropropane and 1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane. Developed and manufactured by the Gebauer Company, it is primarily indicated for the management of myofascial pain, trigger point release, and muscle spasms. The product works through a counterirritant mechanism; when sprayed on the skin, the rapid evaporation creates a cooling effect that temporarily decreases pain sensation. This allows clinicians to perform the spray and stretch technique, where the muscle is stretched to inactivate trigger points and restore motion. It is classified as a medical device.
