Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A combination therapy consisting of gefitinib, an EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitor, and metformin, a biguanide antidiabetic drug. This combination has been investigated primarily for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), particularly in patients with EGFR mutations, with the aim of overcoming resistance to EGFR-TKIs. The combination works by targeting both the EGFR signaling pathway (via gefitinib) and the IGF-1R signaling pathway (via metformin).
