Overview

Gemcitabine + cisplatin + bevacizumab is a combination chemotherapy regimen used primarily in the treatment of advanced cancers, including non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), ovarian clear cell carcinoma (CCC), and biliary tract cancers. Gemcitabine is a nucleoside analog that inhibits DNA synthesis, leading to apoptosis in rapidly dividing cells. Cisplatin is a platinum-based chemotherapeutic agent that forms DNA adducts, causing DNA damage and triggering apoptosis through multiple signaling pathways. Bevacizumab is a monoclonal antibody targeting vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A), inhibiting angiogenesis required for tumor growth. The combination leverages the cytotoxic effects of gemcitabine and cisplatin with the antiangiogenic action of bevacizumab to improve response rates and disease control in various solid tumors[1][2][3][4][5].
