gemcitabine + cisplatin + erlotinib

A combination therapy consisting of gemcitabine (a nucleoside analog), cisplatin (a platinum-based chemotherapy), and erlotinib (an EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitor). This regimen was studied in Phase III clinical trials for first-line treatment of advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), but did not demonstrate survival benefit compared to gemcitabine and cisplatin alone in the general population. Some benefit was observed in never-smokers. The combination includes gemcitabine (1,250 mg/m² on days 1 and 8), cisplatin (80 mg/m² on day 1), and erlotinib (150 mg/day) in 21-day cycles.
