Overview

GDPT is a multi-drug combination chemotherapy regimen consisting of gemcitabine, cisplatin, prednisone, and thalidomide. It was developed by Dr. Mingzhi Zhang and colleagues at the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University specifically for the treatment of peripheral T-cell lymphoma (PTCL). The regimen combines the cytotoxic mechanisms of gemcitabine (a nucleoside analog) and cisplatin (a platinum-based alkylating agent) with the anti-inflammatory effects of prednisone and the immunomodulatory and anti-angiogenic properties of thalidomide. In a randomized Phase 4 clinical trial (NCT01664975), the GDPT regimen demonstrated superior efficacy, including improved response rates and prolonged progression-free and overall survival, compared to the standard CHOP regimen in patients with newly diagnosed PTCL.
