Drug intelligence / Profile preview
gemcitabine + oxaliplatin + prednisolone (GEMOX-P) is a combination chemotherapy regimen developed and investigated by Asan Medical Center for the treatment of metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC), specifically in patients who have failed prior docetaxel therapy. The regimen consists of gemcitabine, a nucleoside analog that inhibits DNA synthesis and ribonucleotide reductase; oxaliplatin, a platinum-based agent that induces DNA cross-linking and apoptosis; and prednisolone, a corticosteroid that provides anti-inflammatory effects and may enhance the anti-tumor activity of the chemotherapy. This combination was evaluated in a Phase II clinical trial (NCT01487720) to assess its efficacy, safety, and impact on prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels in the docetaxel-refractory setting.
