Overview

The combination of gemcitabine, vinorelbine, ifosfamide, and filgrastim is a multi-agent chemotherapy regimen primarily used as salvage therapy for relapsed or refractory Hodgkin lymphoma and other lymphomas. Gemcitabine is a nucleoside analog that inhibits DNA synthesis; vinorelbine is a vinca alkaloid that disrupts microtubule formation; ifosfamide is an alkylating agent causing DNA cross-linking and cell death; filgrastim (recombinant human granulocyte colony-stimulating factor) stimulates neutrophil production to reduce the risk of neutropenia associated with intensive chemotherapy. This regimen (often called IGEV when prednisolone is included) has demonstrated efficacy in inducing remission and facilitating stem cell mobilization prior to autologous transplantation in patients with poor prognosis or relapsed disease[1][4][5][7].
