Overview
This is a combination therapy consisting of **gemcitabine**, a nucleoside analog used as standard chemotherapy in pancreatic cancer, and **Z-360**, an orally active selective cholecystokinin-2 (CCK2) receptor antagonist being developed for advanced pancreatic cancer. Z-360 inhibits the growth-promoting and pain-mediating effects of gastrin/CCK2 signaling, and when used with gemcitabine, the combination has shown safety and tolerability, with potential additional efficacy and analgesic benefit. Z-360 may also exert analgesic effects in severe, opioid-resistant cancer pain by suppressing IL-1β production and downstream pain cascades. The combination is being evaluated for its potential benefit in extending survival and improving pain control in patients with advanced or metastatic pancreatic cancer[1][2][3][4][5].
