Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Gemigliptin + dapagliflozin is a fixed-dose combination of two oral antidiabetic agents used for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Gemigliptin is a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor that increases incretin levels, thereby enhancing insulin secretion and suppressing glucagon release in a glucose-dependent manner[3][5]. Dapagliflozin is a sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor that lowers blood glucose by inhibiting renal glucose reabsorption, leading to increased urinary glucose excretion[1][6]. The combination targets complementary mechanisms to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes who are inadequately controlled on diet, exercise, or other antidiabetic medications. This fixed-dose product has been developed and marketed primarily by LG Chem[4].
