Overview

Gemigliptin + dapagliflozin + metformin is a triple fixed-dose combination (FDC) therapy developed by LG Chem for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. This combination leverages three distinct mechanisms of action to improve glycemic control: gemigliptin is a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor that increases incretin levels; dapagliflozin is a sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 (SGLT-2) inhibitor that promotes urinary glucose excretion; and metformin is a biguanide that reduces hepatic glucose production and improves insulin sensitivity. The therapy is designed for patients who require intensive glucose management. Clinical evaluations, including Phase 1 bioequivalence and food-effect studies, have focused on a sustained-release formulation containing 50 mg of gemigliptin, 10 mg of dapagliflozin, and 1000 mg of metformin.
