Overview

This is a combination of two drugs: **gemigliptin**, a highly selective, competitive, and reversible inhibitor of dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) primarily developed for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus, and **rifampicin**, a well-established antibacterial agent used mainly for the treatment of tuberculosis and other mycobacterial infections. **Gemigliptin** increases incretin hormones (such as active GLP-1), leading to increased insulin secretion and decreased glucose levels in the context of diabetes treatment. **Rifampicin** acts by inhibiting bacterial DNA-dependent RNA polymerase. The combination is not known as a marketed product but may be studied for drug–drug interaction, as rifampicin is a strong inducer of CYP enzymes and can significantly alter gemigliptin’s metabolism and efficacy when co-administered.
