Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ginkgo leaf extract + dipyridamole is a combination pharmaceutical product primarily utilized in China for the treatment of cerebral infarction, coronary heart disease, and other thromboembolic disorders. The combination leverages the synergistic effects of its two primary components: dipyridamole, a small molecule that inhibits phosphodiesterase and adenosine reuptake to exert antiplatelet and vasodilatory actions, and ginkgo leaf extract, which contains flavonoids and terpene lactones (such as ginkgolides) that act as antioxidants and platelet-activating factor (PAF) receptor antagonists. This dual approach aims to improve cerebral and peripheral microcirculation, reduce blood viscosity, and provide neuroprotection against ischemic injury. It is most commonly administered as an intravenous injection in clinical settings, though oral formulations also exist.
