This is a combination of two peptide hormones, glucagon and insulin, used together primarily in research or specialized clinical settings to modulate blood glucose levels. Insulin lowers blood glucose by promoting cellular uptake and storage of glucose, while glucagon raises blood glucose by stimulating hepatic glycogenolysis and gluconeogenesis. The combination is not a standard marketed pharmaceutical product but may be used experimentally to study metabolic responses or in rare clinical scenarios where both rapid correction of hypoglycemia (glucagon) and subsequent glycemic control (insulin) are needed. Each component has distinct mechanisms—insulin acts as an anabolic hormone facilitating glucose uptake, whereas glucagon acts as a catabolic hormone increasing circulating glucose[8][9][10]. There are no approved fixed-dose commercial formulations combining these two agents.
