Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ELCOS-D is an oral fixed-dose combination of glucosamine sulfate (750 mg) and diacerein (50 mg) developed by Captab Biotec for the treatment of osteoarthritis and joint pain. Glucosamine sulfate is an amino sugar that serves as a precursor for glycosaminoglycan and proteoglycan synthesis, supporting cartilage repair and joint lubrication. Diacerein is an anthraquinone derivative that acts as a slow-acting inhibitor of interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β) signaling, reducing inflammation and cartilage degradation. Together, these components work synergistically to alleviate joint pain, reduce swelling, and improve mobility in patients with osteoarthritis.
