Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ExEm Foam (glycerin and hydroxyethyl cellulose) is an ultrasound contrast agent indicated for use in sonohysterosalpingography to assess fallopian tube patency in women with known or suspected infertility. The product consists of a gel containing hydroxyethyl cellulose and glycerin which, when reconstituted with purified water, forms an echogenic foam. This foam is infused into the uterine cavity, where its high viscosity and acoustic properties allow for clear ultrasound visualization of the uterine shape and the flow through the fallopian tubes. It serves as a diagnostic tool to identify tubal occlusion without the need for ionizing radiation or iodinated contrast media.
